Barbados Chara Hinds and Zahra Gaskin were the first athletes in competition for the Barbados at the Inaugural Junior Pan American Games in Cali Colombia on Friday 26th November 2021. Competing in the women’s triathlon in the morning Hinds finished 24th and Gaskin 25th in the event.
Hinds was clocked at 12mins 12 secs in the swim; 39 minutes 58 secs in the ride and 25 minutes 4 secs in the run for an overall time of 1 hour 20 minutes and 30 secs.
Hot on her heels was Gaskin who clocked an overall time of 1 hour 21 minutes and 2 seconds, which was amassed through a swim which was clocked at 12 minutes and 33 secs, the ride which she clocked 39 minutes and 52 secs and the run which was clocked at 25 minutes 49 secs.
The winner was Anahi Alvarez Corral from Mexico in 1 hour 3 minutes and 59 seconds who was outside the top 10 when they exited the water from the swim but made up the time on the ride and a blistering run.
