Barbados Kodie King suffered a narrow defeat in the -75 kg Kumite category at the Pan American Senior Karate Championships in Uruguay.

King competing in Ring 1 on the blue side was locked in a virtual stalemate with the hometown athlete Facundo Da Silva (Uruguay) until a kick to midsection severely hampered his movement for the rest of the match. Soon after that kick, the Bajan athlete got scored on with a front kick which earned his opponent two points.

These were the only points scored in the match as it ended 2-0 and ended the hopes of King progressing any further.
